BEYOND BEAUTY & MAKEUP: Artistry is chaos.

When people think of makeup artistry, they often picture the final image - flawless skin, sculpted features, and a seamless finish that looks straight out of a luxury campaign. But the process that gets us there, It’s rarely neat, and almost never quiet.

Artistry is chaos. It’s brushes flying. Open palettes. Swatches on every hand. A kit that looked pristine ten minutes ago now spilling open like a creative explosion. And somehow, in the middle of that mess, magic happens. Now, to be clear this isn’t about wedding or traditional beauty work. This is about on brand, editorial artistry. The kind of work that blends creativity with storytelling. The kind that draws from moodboards, textures, music, movement, and raw emotion. The kind that demands instinct over structure, and passion over perfection. And against everything in my body that wants things to run smoothly and neatly the reality is we’re often pressed for time and asked to think on our feet when the plan doesn’t go to plan. So no, the process isn’t always polished. My kit gets a workout. My brushes don’t stay in neat rows. My reference notes sprawl across the bench. But that’s where the vision comes to life. That’s where the look is built, layer by layer.

Of course, everything is always hygienic, that’s a non negotiable. But within the creative chaos, that’s where the artistry lives. That’s were I grow as an artist. That’s where bold ideas take shape and signature moments are made. People see the final image and assume it came from a place of order. What they don’t see is the behind the scenes - how instinctual, emotional, and sometimes wild the process can be. And honestly? I’m proud of that. Because in the chaos - with open kits, swatched hands, and piles of scrunched up ideas - that’s where the real magic happens.
